            The Positives

            • The motion requires users to activate their core during the workout to maintain balanced.
            • Console technology is easy to use.
            • Provides several resistance levels to take your workout to the next level.
            • The upright and weight bearing stance, and lateral motion builds legs and glute muscles, and increases cardiovascular fitness.
            • Provides 3 types of handle bars to ensure complete comfort for all users.

            The Negatives

            • Foot rest is comfortable but quite large leaving room for a slip of the foot for individuals with smaller feet.
            • Minimal upper body work, only stabilizer muscles used.

            The Conclusion

The Helix HLT3500 Lateral Trainer’s unique side-to-side motion delivers an exceptionally challenging leg workout and cardiovascular exercise. Unlike most traditional exercise equipment products that work front-to-back, the Helix Trainer works laterally to target areas including the inner/outer thighs, glutes, and core.

I typically spend around 45-60 minutes on a treadmill/elliptical to fulfill my aerobic exercise. However, after only 10 minutes on the Helix Lateral Trainer I was exhausted, dripping sweat and legs shaking (in a good way). Needless to say, this product threw me quite the curve ball the first time I tried it out. The lateral motion forces you to stay low and really focus on working your glutes and legs providing an amazing lower body workout.

The Helix HLT3500 console is intuitive and includes 16 levels of resistance, as well as 8 different workout programs. During my first workout on the Helix HLT3500 I was able to get on the product, find an appropriate exercise program and resistance level within 20-30 seconds without any problems.

I could feel the circular lateral motion activate all of the muscles in my legs and gluteus maximus, and naturally made me engage my core. I personally enjoy this characteristic of the machine very much, because typically as I become tired during a workout I forget to engage my core. However, with the Helix Lateral Trainer its not a problem because you have to keep your core tight to stay balanced.

The Helix workout demanding that I keep my core tight through the workout to stay balanced is a major benefit because normally I have to remind myself to keep my core engaged on my elliptical or treadmill workouts.

This is a great lower body workout, my quads were burning after about 3 minutes at a good tempo! It’s a great product to mix in through the week.
